Morning: A Taste of Icelandic Street Food

Our day kicked off with a visit to the famous Vikinga Pylsur hot dog stand. Located in the heart of the city, this place is a must-visit for anyone wanting to try a traditional Icelandic hot dog. The “pylsur” is a delicious blend of lamb, pork, and beef, topped with crunchy onions, sweet mustard, and a creamy remoulade sauce. Every bite was an explosion of flavors, setting the perfect tone for the day ahead.

Afternoon: Relaxation at Sky Lagoon

After my scrumptious snack, I made my way to the serene Sky Lagoon. Nestled on the edge of the ocean, this geothermal spa offers breathtaking views and ultimate relaxation. I indulged in the seven-step ritual, which included a series of hot and cold treatments designed to rejuvenate the body and mind. Soaking in the warm waters with the stunning backdrop of the North Atlantic was an experience I’ll never forget.

Electric Scooter Ride: Discovering Nauthólsvík Geothermal Beach

Refreshed and recharged, I decided to take an electric scooter ride back to the city. Riding along the coastal path, the cool breeze and the scenic views made for an exhilarating journey. Along the way, I stumbled upon Nauthólsvík Geothermal Beach, a hidden gem where locals gather to enjoy the unique mix of seawater and geothermal heat. Watching people swim and relax in the warm waters, with the golden sands and the crisp sea air, was a delightful and unexpected find.

Evening: Dinner at Islenski Barinn

As the day came to a close, I headed to Islenski Barinn for a hearty dinner. This cozy restaurant is known for its traditional Icelandic cuisine. The rich, savory flavors were the perfect end to an incredible day of exploration. We had our first taste of blue fin whale!
